Turkey and Pakistan (ORSAM-NIPS) Joint webinar

“Normalization in the Gulf region; Significance for Turkey and Pakistan” webinar, which is arranged jointly by Turkey and Pakistan (ORSAM and NIPS), will be held on 9 February 2021. It will be moderated by Ambassador Riaz Khokhar, who is the former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan. There will be three presentations by Turan Kışlakçı, Javed Hafeez, and Ömer Aslan.

The Gulf region has crucial importance for Turkey. There is a bond of religion and civilization between them, and they participate in common international organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). They have common interests and have the potential to cooperate in different fields. As oil-rich countries, Gulf states are essential in terms of the economy for Turkey. Trade, investments, and different economic agreements are crucial for their economic development and diversified economy. Cooperation between Turkey and the Gulf would be beneficial in the foreign policy of both sides. Also, Turkey and the Gulf countries cooperate in various fields such as economy, energy, security, etc. So, it is important to know and analyze the relations between them.

The Middle East in general and the Gulf Region in particular enjoys strong economic, faith-based, and significant diplomatic complementarities with Pakistan. Gulf countries and Pakistan have had a long history of close relations and cooperation based on providing mutual assistance in key areas of common understanding and interest. The relationship with these Gulf countries has successfully stood the test of the time. Pakistan is deeply concerned at the multiple conflicts and the disturbed situation across the Middle East and considers that inter-Islamic consultation, coordination, and cooperation can provide a strong guarantee for the satisfactory management leading up to bringing lasting peace. Without question, Pakistan is deeply desirous of stability in the Middle East as it is one of the key prerequisites for global peace and stability, and would act as a potent example for bolstering security and peace in the surrounding regions.
