Roundtable Discussion with the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA). 

Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORSAM) held an online roundtable discussion with the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) on July 7th 2021.

In the meeting, future of US-China relations, Japan’s geopolitical position and its impacts on China, Biden administration’s foreign policy toward the region and Turkey’s stance regarding the confrontation between the two rivalry powers, along with possible cooperation opportunities were discussed. 

The participants were: Prof. Ahmet UYSAL, Director, ORSAM, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Numan TELCI, Vice Director, ORSAM, Dr. Recep YORULMAZ, Director of Economic Studies, ORSAM, Mr. Gökhan ERELI, Expert of Gulf Studies, ORSAM, and Prof. Murat ASLAN, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University from Turkey; and Ms. Tomiko ICHIKAWA, Director General, JIIA, Ms. Naoko FUNATSU, Research Fellow, JIIA, Dr. Shinji YAMAGUCHI, Senior Research Fellow, National Institute for Defense Studies, and Dr. Masaki Kakizaki, Associate Professor, Temple University, from Japan.
