Sercan Çalışkan graduated from the History Department of Istanbul University in 2017. In the same year, he started with the International Security and Terrorism Master's program at the National Defense University, Alparslan Institute of Security Sciences. He obtained his master's degree with his thesis on “Perception Wars over Social Media: Operation Olive Branch”. While his general area of interest is irregular war issues within the framework of security studies, he is especially interested in security problems in Iraq and with Iraqi Turkmens within the scope of regional studies. He is currently working as a research assistant in the Turkmen studies unit at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORSAM). He speaks English fluently and Arabic at a beginner level.
